Imovie To Toast Chapter Markers Workaround

bruceb2

Question

Here is a method that I discovered which allows me to import chapter markers created in iMovie into Toast. Apparently Toast has not been able to do this accurately through the past few versions.

1. Set Chapter markers in iMovie

2. Save the iMovie file: filename.iMovieProject

3. Control Click on the file and select Show Package Contents

4. GoTo: filename.iMovieProject > Shared Movies > iDVD

5. Option-Drag filename.mov to another location on your HD

6. Open Toast and drag filename.mov into the workspace.

7. Click on the Edit button, select the Video tab, and make sure the Chapter Markers dropdown menu is set to Automatic.

Save the resulting Toast file as a disk image (just to check0

The resulting DVD should contain all chapter markers as entered in iMovie and the way Toast 9 should have worked in the first place.

NOTE: Toast will place a chapter marker at the beginning of the file, before the first chapter marker that you have entered, resulting in one additional marker.

Thanks for the tip. I'm presuming you're referring to iMovie HD. Another approach is to use the Toast Media Browser to access the iMovie Project in your Movies folder by choosing Movies with the browser's top button.

Correct! I'm using iMovie HD v6.x. Using the Toast Media Browser also imports the chapters as defined in iMovie. Too bad that Roxio Support couldn't tell me this.

Thanks!
