Error 80004005 While Using My Dvd

Dirty Dave

Question

When I try to add certain .avi files to be converted and burnt to DVD with EMC 10 MY DVD, I get ERROR 80004005. This is with my HP SR5010SX, Nvidia 7600 GS 512mb, 2 Gig Ram, Intel Celeron D 3.4 ghz.

When I try to as the SAME .avi files with my other system. Nvidia 8800 GTX 768mg, 4 Gig Ram, AMD X2 64bit 6000+, I have no problems at all.

I have downloaded the newest drivers for the 7600 GS and still get the error.

Ok, I downloaded the March 2008 Direct X 9.0c from the link post in this forum. (No need to waste time digging for dates of the current version.) I still get: Add Movie operation failed 80004005.

Nvidia 7600 GS Driver Version 5/2/2008

2 gigs ram

Windows XP Pro SP3

Direct X 9.0c

EMC 10

NOW! Check this out!

When I tried to update Direct X on my other system I got this message from the installer:

This version of DirectX is not compatable with the version of windows currently installed.

I did not have a problem encoding .avi files with this system but figured I would update Direct X while I had the newest version (March 2008).

Do you have an install disc for EMC 10? Was EMC 10 pre-installed on your PC? Another version of Roxio before EMC 10? A clean install may be worth a shot.

The video card drivers are usually the culprit, as in here. So if they are current, have you considered opening a support ticket, as in this case?

All versions of DirectX are 9.0c - unfortunately for some very strange reason, MS does not renumber them - you need the current ones (they are date stamped)

Go here and get the latest version (March 2008)

Daithi,

so how can I find out exactly which date-stamped version I have? I certainly haven't "updated" my version in the last year and I have no problem running EMC 10

Run dxdiag and it usually tells you - unfortunately while some files are updated, they're jumbled and you have to pore through it to see what the dates are.

The problem Walt is we don't know when the OP actually updated last - but that error is normally graphics (either drivers or DirectX or both)

The most recent date if found for any of the DirectX files is 19-Aug-2007, half of them are from 2004. I really don't believe that having "latest" version of DirectX has any effect on EMC 10. After all EMC 10 came out long before the lataest DirectX
