KidCreole
Once again I am back with something totally not Roxio related, but when I purchased the above DVD Recorder, that's how I got started with Roxio Software. (Roxio 7 was included in it) All of a sudden my Windows XP has stopped recognising the above recorder. I have tried updating the software driver but with no avail. I have up to now used it successfully and all of a sudden it has given up on me... Can someone help, please Once again. Thanks

tbrewst
If Device Manager is not showing it then Roxio definitely won't. Microsoft has a KB article about this. Not sure it will fix your problem but you might check it out here
gi7omy
You may have installed Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11. Both of these will cause problems with EMC7 (and other apps) Just uninstall both and toll back to the previous versions. In the case of IE7, either stop automatic updates or search the MS website (they have a registry patch file to prevent IE7 from installing)
tbrewst
If it's Windows not seeing the drive at all then try this.Do Solution #2 and manually edit. After that if you had software/drivers for the drive try and reinstall them.

Hello Terry Do you mean the Method 2: Manually delete the registry entries The DVD Recorder is an external one. Thanks
KidCreole
That's the same fix I sent him to.Or at least it does the same thing. Thank you all guys.. I did try the fix but to no avail..but I found out that the recorder itself was at fault.. got it checked out and the casing was faulty. I got a new case for it with a built in cooler and it is working just fine. Thanks again guys. OK - different ballgame now Check this MS kb article and see if that helps http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;314060 Thank you all
gi7omy
Is it EMC7 (your first post) or EMC9 (your second)? IE7 and WMP11 break EMC7 - there have been problems with EMC9 but not as frequent
KidCreole
Is it EMC7 (your first post) or EMC9 (your second)? IE7 and WMP11 break EMC7 - there have been problems with EMC9 but not as frequent I had EMC 7 when I first purchased the external DVD Recorder (it came with it) and then upgraded to EMC 9. As I said I have been using the recorder since upgrade to EMC 9 and then a couple of days gone, Windows stopped recognising it.
gi7omy
Glad you sorted it - drives aren't dear these days (I remember the first CD-R drive I came across - the firm I worked for paid a cool grand in STERLING for an external 2x LaCie SCSI that never did work on PCs - only Macs)
