Editing Audio Track Volume In Videowave

BrianR

Question

This must be covered before but I couldn't get my search terms right.

I'm using VW9 with pictures and video intermixed.

I've added a song track that will play through both pictures and video segments.

During the video segments, I want to lower the song volume but not the video segment volume.

Is this easy to do outside of Audacity?

Thanks for your help!

Switch to Timeline, click the song object, and then click the speaker icon. Adjust the volume using the slider. Or you can double click the song object and a window shows up. Use the slider to adjust the volume.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I understand how to increase/decrease volume for the entire song, but I only want to lower the volume for part of the song.

Example - I start the song and have ten pictures in a slideshow followed by a 10 second video, followed by more pictures.

How do I adjust the song volume only during the video portion?

Use the Volume envelope. It will allow you to lower volume in certain portion(s) of the song.

Controlling the audio envelope

You can precisely control volume changes within an audio clip by adding and adjusting envelope points.

In the Audio Editor's waveform display, you can click on the envelope to add envelope points, and click and drag existing envelope points to control volume changes.

To add and adjust envelope points:

  • In the waveform display, click the envelope to add a point, and then drag the point to the desired position.<a name="wp1198300">

Note: In the Audio editor, click the Zoom In button to enlarge the area you are working in to make fine tuning easier. Click the Zoom Out button to see more envelope points.

Neither of those links work for me.

To the original poster, you may want to watch this (link). The video is silent.
