Emc 10 Audio Capture

Krusher

Question

It appears EMC 10 and Windows Vista just don't get along. I tried the Sound Editor and it didn't recognize my sound card. It recognized my computer's "in-line" and "mic inputs" and that's all. I went to Radio Shack, purchased a 3.5mm stereo splitter (one male end with two females ends), put the male end into my computer's stereo out, and the speakers in one female end. I also purchased a 3.5mm stereo cable (male on both ends) and put one end into the splitter and one into the computers in-line receptacle. EMC 10 recognized sound from the in-line and now I can record from the internet. :)

When you pay money for a product, you would expect it to deliver . . . :angry2:

I have EMC10 on 2 Vista Ultimate computers. One running a Creative XiFi card and another with onboard sound. Both work fine.

You didn't post your computer info but most people who have problems have the onboard sound option.

As has been said before this is not a Roxio problem it is a Vista sound problem and the way that cards/chips inputs are detected. With the way that Vista uses sound now it could just be a driver issue, make sure you have the latest ones. You can also try looking under the Sound category in the control panel and see if any Recording devices are disabled.

I have a less than week old Dell Inspiron 530 w/3GB of of memory, Pentium Dual Core Processor (1MB, 2.2 GHz), and running Windows Vista Premium. With that being said, I searched this discussion group and updated my sound driver & enabled all of my recorders. EMC 10 still did not recognize my sound card. I offered my "work around" to anyone who had ran out of options . . .

Hi Krusher,

I have the same computer Dell 530 with Vista Home Basic.

I suspect that we have the same sound card though. I am able to use voice chat via the system, and gonna try to record something via EMC 10 right now and post the result later.

But make sure you go to Dell driver update section to:

+ flash your Bios.

+ download newest sound card driver (skip if you already did)

+ run Vista update

+ restart computer

I will post my result
