Western Digital working on 20,000 RPM Raptor

According to several sources close to the hard drive industry, Western Digital is working on a 20,000 RPM Raptor hard drive to combat the increasing pressure from SSD manufacturers.

I'd love to know their definition of 'silent'. And what about heat? Still, it's does seem that competition is working. Wish they had that in the oil industry!

At 20,000 RPM, much of the "noise" could be in the ultrasonic range (for humans), which might be easier to dampen? The dog sitting next to you may be howling though! :)

Do they make a hard drive that could take care of my cats?
