Burned Dvd Plays With No Vision Just Sound. What's Wrong?

I have an .avi file that I have managed to encode and burn to DVD but now find that it plays with sound but no picture. I suspected that this file was suspect due to the difficulty in Toast accepting the .avi file to encode in the first place. I had to use D-Vision 3 to check and mend any errors which it did prior to encoding. It then took about 15 mins to register in the Toast window. I can preview the "fixed" file using VLC ok with both sound and vision so what do I have to do for it to encode? I have tried to play it using Quicktime on my Mac player and it again plays without picture. Can anyone help?

Also I am told that Quicktime probably does not have the correct codecs to view this video. Can these be downloaded from Apple?

I referred to a previous post I had forgotten about regarding similar problems and it seems I'm stuffed on this one! Unless anyone knows different!

If QuickTime says it doesn't have the right codec then Toast can't use it. You might check if anyone at the Mac forum at videohelp.com knows about this codec.

If you haven't already done so, try installing the Perian decoder component, which will enable QuickTime (and thus Toast too) to decode (=read) additional media formats and codecs used in media files.
