Whole Movie Not Showing Up

agourley

Question

When I am in the Roxio Media Import window, I have a movie show up, along with 4 chapters. Chapter 1 imports just fine. Chapters 2,3,and 4 will not import. I can preview them just fine and if for some reason they do upload, it's for less than a second. Any ideas on this? I'm sure there is an answer on here somewhere.. there is just a lot to read through! Also, I've read a lot about mpeg-2 formats. In the import window, only mpeg shows up. Is that correct?

As it says <--- I'm a newbie! Thanks..

Were these movies made w/ a camcorder? If so, what recording mode was used when recording, and how is your camcorder hooked up to your pc?

Thanks for your interest in helping me! But I was reading up on some other threads and someone mentioned to use the discs that come with the camcorder. So I found that and uploaded the videos using that. But now that I have those, I tried going into MyDVD to add them to my existing project, and it says the files cannot be edited. Could this possibly be because it wasn't recorded in Video mode? And do you know if there is a way to convert it, if need be?

The disc I used to upload them is the Picture Motion Browser..

In your first post you say that "Chapters 2,3,and 4 will not import," and in your second post you suggest that they have been captured because you were able to upload the videos. Has everything been captured or not?

Stating the camcorder you have, the type of connection & the recording mode is important. Did you record in VR mode?

Also, I believe you have read the thread where video and vr recording mode is discussed, and probably now realize that it will be more cumbersome to capture vr mode recordings. This thread is relatively recent and goes over some issues; it's worth a read.

Well yes, I guess I was contradicting myself. They were uploaded, but only after I clicked individually on the chapter. But they were only a second long, so that did me no good. And I'm using a Sony DCR-DVD610 with a USB. And yes, unfortunately is was recorded in VR. I'll check out that other thread as well.

How did it work out for you?

" And I'm using a Sony DCR-DVD610 with a USB." was the bit I spotted Bruce

Well.. I put in the disc that came with my video camera and that was Picture Motion something or another... I used that to upload the vidoes. After that, EMC wouldn't let me use them stating they weren't able to be edited. So I put the VOB (?) folder onto the hard drive and copied them to that. Then I could use the videos into EMC. So I managed to get them into my existing project but then had to fiddle around for about an hour getting everything in the correct order. Very time consuming! But I have already gone ahead with my other disc's and formatted them to video so I won't forget! Thanks for all the help!

Glad it worked out for you. I, too, was lulled by the siren's song of VR mode recording and crashed on the capture rocks of EMC10. But there are usually one or two ways to get where you want to be....
