Why Is There A Limit To The Files Taht Can Be Converted If Its Going To A File And Not A Disc?

I just noticed that there is a limit to the number of files I can convert at once to "ipod" format, even if I am outputting to a hard drive. Why is that? Why can't I output 50 files and have the quality be "identical to the original?"

Anybody? And now also I output like 10 files, and they are coming out really small and playing one frozen frame. All my files are being out putted to a hard drive too.
