How Do I Globally/manually Change The Drive And Folder Location For Mydvd Files I Already Added?

Question

Hello,

I've run into the problem with MyDVD a few times where I needed to change the location (drive and folder) of my graphics and video files which I've already added to my project. The problem is that after my files are moved, the next time I load my project, MyDVD complains about missing files--and that's fine, because I have moved them. However, what I would like to do is to somehow specify the drive and folder where these files are now located.

For example, suppose that I added files to my project that were in the C:\MyPics folder. Now, suppose that I can no longer use the C: drive and instead have moved the files to D:\MyPics.

Is there some sort of way to edit the MyDVD project file to tell it that all files it has as "C:\MyPics" should now be "D:\MyPics"? Ideally, I'm thinking of editing some sort of ".ini" file and doing a global search-and-replace.

Anyone knows how I can do this?

Thanks!

I checked out the .dmsd file and it certainly is a piece of work! :D

Thanks for the tip on using the Browse feature. It was definitely a user error because I never bothered to ever click on the "Go to error" button in the popup window! ;) Yep, that method is much better.

Thanks!

Possible but you will have to play in the dmsd project files… (never actually done something like this)

I suggest you make a copy before starting and store them in another folder!

Use Notepad and do a search for FILENAME. In this example it is pointing to the folder 51st INF and a file, D 51 INF 03.jpg.

You will have to replace the $\..\..\..\51st INF, with the new location. For example, you moved it to J:\New Pictures\, that is what you would replace it with.

Make a simple one and start small until you get the hang of it.

When you reopened that project in Video Wave (or MyDVD when you go to edit the project), didn't you get a message about missing files? If so, just choose browse and navigate to where they are now. It will find the rest when you do one.
