Splitting A Video Into More Pieces

fabryddorf

Question

Is there any cleverer way to split a video into more pieces and being precise at the same time.

I am using Roxio MyDVD 10 and I find very difficult to use the mouse to do this.

The forward arrow, is in milliseconds and you would need ages for several bits. I found Roxio 9 much more easier, where you could set the forward time by yourself 1 second, or 5 seconds ..etc..

any suggestion would be very much appreciate

Couldn't you use the "thumb wheel" to get close to the point you want to make the split and then switch to the frame by frame arrow? I've never tried to input a particular time in a production, but others with more knowledge will probably let you know if this can be accomplished.

Yes, this is what I am using at the moment, but since the movie is quite big is very slow and not precise enough.

To set my wished time, it takes me like 2 minutes each time.

It should be possible to digit just the desired time "from" and "to" or at least as in Roxio 9 where you can decide how fast your forward button should be.

I'll have to let others address your question about inputting a specific time, but you can also adjust the amount of the production that shows up on your pc's screen by moving that little triangle back and forth that is near the magnifying glass on the right hand portion of the screen in Videowave. That would probably let you be a little more precise in your splitting.

Yes, I tried that and indeed it is better , but still not user friendly at all.

Thanks for your help

That forward arrow is in frames; not milliseconds. There are 29.97 frames per second unless PAL or other special frame rate.

Have you tried using the scene detect feature and created scenes automatically ? Watch this: You can adjust the automatic detection to be more or less sensitive or you can do a manual detect. This should be easier for you.

If you are splitting and deleting, then this would help since you would add only the scenes you wanted and in the order you want them.
