Can't Install Emc 9.1

Net313

Question

I just purchased online and downloaded EMC 9.1 from Roxio using Digital River. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop running Win XP MCE SP 3. I have dowloaded two copies of the program (about 608 MB) and both generate the error... "The contents of the file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity and try again." I tried disabling my antivirus and deleted everything having to do with Sonic that was originally installed on my Dell PC, and I keep getting the above error. I get the same error trying to install the contents dowload (338 MB) as well.

Help!

Your download is corrupted. You need to download again.

I guess I should have been more clear, I downloaded EMC 9.1 and the installer program said it was corrupted, so I downloaded another copy of EMC 9.1 through Digital River, and that copy also said it was corrupted. Both files are exactly the same size, and were from two different downloads, two hours apart.

If you have WinRAR on you computer, right click on the file that you downloaded, and extract the contents to a folder (make one) on your hard drive, and run it from that folder.

What is the exact size of your downloaded file? (right click, go to properties)

WinRar showed the first two copies of the main install file as corrupted. I downloaded a THIRD copy and that one was finally good (WinRar showed it was OK) and it installed the EMC 9.1 fine. I don't know why it would take three downloads to finally get a good one. All three copies (the two bad and one good) are 637,916,577 bytes in size.

Glad you got it sorted - as to why two out of three were bad, there coule be 1,001 reasons including a momentary glitch on your internet connection, a/v kicking in, Instant Messenger, a Trojan - your guess is as good as mine
