Head & Brick Wall - Trimming Problems

Boozo

Question

 Hi All

I've had EMC 9 for over a year and keep giving up and trying again, it's so frustrating.

Currently trying to set up a Big Brother best bits compilation. I've tried 2 methods, both unsuccessful.

1) Through Media Selector I select programme, then use the chapters I want in the Storyline. There are no transitions, just the chapters I've trimmed to what I want. It runs ok, but as it progresses the dubbing gets further and further out and in the end of course it chops the end of. Each chapter when played in it's own right is fine.

2) Thanks to a suggestion for removing ads I also tried loading up entire programme (no chapters), and using the multi trim via markers started to cut bits out, but only the first one works. When removing other sections I'm left with a complete strange results. As an experiment I tried to remove the last section of the programme, but it didn't do it just put in chapters which didn't even relate to where I was in the programme.

I'm really sick of failing with this software, particularly since it appears to do so much and the money spent on it, but I've had no success with it. Any help to resolve this issue or suggest reliable software would very much be appreciated.

Thanks

Reb

Thanks for the reminder I hadn't replied, I've been somewhat bogged down since my system took a complete nose dive after I'd left that message.

UPDATE:

Also, as I've mentioned in my reply on the other thread, I've decided that some if not all of the problems may be down to glitches with the installation, so I've just done a clean uninstall and reinstall, maybe I'll get lucky and not need to post again.

Thanks

Reb

And if your luck turns, post again

If only! Have had a quick go, but still having dubbing issues. I tried both proceedures again, 1st one using chapters same problem, dubbing goes out again. Then I tried the multi trim, it works on the first trim removing the beginning ads, but there after it went really bizar. I tried to remove an ad break, but the end result was that it cut and copied the previous block of film, which I presume was the same length of time, really weird. Then I got a new problem: it wouldn't let me rewind the film, not a single frame or proper rewind, not even restart. Strange, but this disappeared once I closed the application and started again. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the trimming problem. So again, I've given up and reloaded the original version of MyDVD which came with my computer, version 6 I think. I copied 3 programmes to DVD no problems, but then when I play back the earliest is great, the other 2 the dubbings out again! I'm so close to giving up with Roxio products. Any ideas?

Having found a top ten of current products for editing, Power Director comes 1st and Video Studio 2nd, has anyone any experience of these in comparism to EMC?

Regards

Reb

Maybe forum users will be encouraged to respond to your issues if you are kind enough to get back to them. An example of such is this thread.

The only place "Chapters" can be created is within MyDVD.

You are making up your own terminology so we can not understand what you are trying to describe.

Software is like cars, everyone has an opinion as to which one is best…

Sound sync is and always will be a problem with all software. If you want to throw money at the problem in hopes it will be solved, go ahead.
