Dvd Burning Problem With Disc Copier

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I am new to DVD burning and would appreciate any help anyone can offer. I cannot burn/copy a DVD in Disc Copier. It gets about 50% completed and just stops with error messages that it can no longer go on. I have used Disc Copier many times in copying CD-R's.

The source DVD is a mini DVD-r of my children. The destination is a standard sized DVD-r.

Here's what I am running:

Windows XP

1 Gigabyte of memory

Pentium P4

2.5 GHz

Compaq Presario S5300NX (purchased in October 2003)

DVD Player = IDE-DVD ROM 16X (came with computer)

DVD/CD Rewritable Drive = Sony DVD +-R dual layer/double layer (bought & installed yesterday).

Thank you in advance for any suggestions and advice. I appreciate your help.

The source must be Finalized by the camcorder.

If it is try copying it as a disc image (iso) from either your ROM drive or you Burner drive to your HD.

If successful, use DC or Builder to copy the iso file to a blank disc.

Hello:

The DVD-R disc is finalized by the camcorder. Can you please direct me to where/how to copy it as a disc image from my drive to my HD?

Thank you,

With Disc Copier…

Plan B would be to copy the VIDEO_TS folder from the disc to your HD with Explorer.

What I am trying to confirm is that there is not some problem preventing the files/disc from being copied.

Hello:

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

I was able to copy the mini DVD-R to a DVD via the Disc Creator option in Roxio, version 6. However, I really wanted to be able to add to the DVD because the minis are only 20 mins each. But I have two problems:

1. I cannot add to it. When I go to details to change the Record Methods (it is set at Disc @ Once), all other methods are gray out and I cannot access them, such as Finalize Session, Don't Finalize Disc, which is what I think I need.

2. The recorded DVD will play in my computer, but not on my DVD player, which is a Toshiba, purchased this year.

Do you have any idea why I cannot select other record method options and why my DVD will not play on my DVD player? Thank you for all your help,

Lisa

I will leave answering the question for James.

However, I will suggest you invest in a DVD-RW to play with until you get it the way you want it. If it doesn't work, just erase the DVD/RW and reuse it.

Just don't use an RW disc to keep anything, because RW media fades out as the re-crystalized aluminum alloy de-crystalizes, taking all the data with it.

Classic is very hard to use for creating DVD's. Movie DVDs are not simply a collection of files like a computer would be able to use. They require specific file formats and content and the disc must be formatted in a manner that is compliant with DVD Players.

Please confirm that the folder you have copied is called VIDEO_TS and not VIDEO_VR.

The first step is get from the mini-disc to a working DVD Movie disc. Then we can talk about ways to combine multiple discs. It is a horse-cart situation…

If the folder is VIDEO_TS you should be able to Import from that folder into DVD Builder.

From there you will be able to burn the project to DVD. Again, I stress using RW media for now.
