"no Supported Recorders Available". Tried Pxengine3.0 To No Avail

Recommended Posts

hello,

Roxio Creator Classic Ver 6.1.1.48 with latest updates from Roxio and update engine installed.

From system scan:

CD-ROM/DVD : HP DVD Writer 1040d

I slipstreamed(using AutoStreamer) WinXP Pro SP 3 with my WinXP Pro SP1 and I am trying to burn the file to a CD. When I go to drop .ISO file in the project window and then click the burn to disc button, I get the error "There are no supported recorders available. ..."

I tried the solution below by installing the .zip file and read this thread but I am still having this issue.

Please let me know if you have any other information that may help.

thanks

Hey -

I was wondering did you try all the other suggestions in this article:

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/General%20I...mation/000008GN

Also, the PXEngine is designed specially for Sonic/Roxio based technology - or post Sonic/Roxio merger. So versions of Creator prior to 7.5 cannot be effected by the PX Engine.

Again, give the complete article I quoted above a shot and let me know.

Doesn't that depend on the version of PXEngine?

V6 V9.0 3.00.58a:

V9.0 3.00.88a:

V9.1 3.6.39b:

V10 4.2.58a:

At least that is what we have been able to piece together…

NewToForum and Jim -

I did some research regarding this issue for clarification/confirmation.

NewToForum - Your version of Creator used the Dragon Engine. So you have two options to resolve the issue:

a) Reregister your Dragon Engine by following this article (I know it says Disc Copier, but should apply to Creator Classic): http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/EE6000009

B) Clean install Creator 6 and reinstall: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/General%20I...mation/000056CR

Jim -

I have never seen this data before. Who did you get it from?

The latest version of the PX Engine is backwards compatible with Creator 7.5 (and it's related products, like MyDVD, Videowave, RecordNow, etc) and higher as well nearly all Sonic branded burning products.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask online or offline and I'll be happy to further the research for clarification and post it. :D

Hi Jon,

The various versions of the PX engine were found in the various versions of Easy Media Creator.

Help > About this software displays that information among other things.

We got a link to a 'PX Engine updater' some while ago, and that has been very useful in fixing burning engine faults in the software which uses the PX engine.

http://images.roxio.com/en/support/pxengine3_00_58a.zip

However, you'll note that is a rather old version and it actually 'downdates' rather than updates most versions. :)

Do you think you could find us a link to a later version of PX Updater that we can recommend to customers with these problems? It would be very handy.

Best regards,

Brendon

Jon: Oh, I just checked my V8 Deluxe Suite and found another: 2.7.42a.

Brendon is the Man on this list. He had raised the question recently regarding all of these versions and the link to an earlier version. I am just his parrot on this…

Hi Brendon and Jim -

I have initiated a thread with our engineers to give us a definitive answer for this issue. We're shooting to have a definitive KB article where you, the Guru's and Customers, can post a single link for people to get the latest version of the PX Engine, or if applicable, the correct version for their software. This would prevent folks, us included, from handing out direct links to potentially obsolete PX Engine downloads.

We used to have a page for this on the old Sonic site, but has since disappeared into The Abyss

Of course, once this article is created, it would be linked to our infamous You have a general issue burning your disc article. ;)

I'll update the thread once I have some concrete info for you all.

Thanks for all your input and help,

Jon

Hi All -

Just wanted to give you an update:

  • We created a new process so that support is alerted when a new version of the PX Engine is available for public upload.
  • An article has been created and is going over the final approval phases. This article will be the place for everybody to check for the latest PX Engine and the date released.
  • We're hoping to have the article up in the next day or two.

Thanks for your patience,

Jon

Have you tried this? This worked perfectly for me...

Using Roxio Assistant: Roxio Assistant is designed to correct Engine Initialization errors. If Easy CD & DVD Creator's Engine does not initialize, the applications in Easy CD & DVD Creator will not recognize your recorder.

After running Roxio assistant, you should update Easy CD & DVD Creator as described above in "Updating Your Software to the Latest Version:".

1. RoxAssist.exe is located at:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\Upgrade\RoxAssist.exe

(Note: If you have modified the installation of Windows or Easy CD & DVD Creator, the file may be located in a different location.)

2. After running this program you should receive the message "Engine initialized successfully with full recorder support".

3. If you do not receive the message, update your Virus software and then check and clean your system for viruses. After the removal of any viruses, uninstall and then reinstall Easy CD & DVD Creator (use "Add Remove Programs" in "Control Panel".)

Roxio Assistant: In some instances Roxio Assistant may require the installation CD, not allowing you to "Cancel" with out it. In this case you will need to insert the Easy CD & DVD Creator install disc into your drive so that Roxio Assistant will have access to needed files.
