Jvc Everio Camcorder Support

GeoffWBA

Question

I have now been informed by Roxio that the JVC Everio GZ-HD5 camcorder (and presumably others in the same range) are NOT supported in EMC10. Can anyone at Roxio tell me whether there are any plans to support these camcorders in future software updates? I was planning to upgrade from EMC9 to EMC10 but there is no point in doing so at the moment.

This isn't Roxio Tech Support. This is a users forum, and the folks here are just users of the software. If you want to contact them directly, click on the support icon in the upper right part of your screen.

Depends on what you are calling 'support'? The new JVC Hidef camcorders use standard MPEG 2 transport stream file format although they DO NOT use a standard extension. Perhaps you could pose that question to JVC. All you need to do is transfer the .TOD files and rename the extension to .m2t. This is similar to HDV which is supported. Videowave and MyDVD should be to add them to a project. Be patient as a proxy file for editing may be created.

According to JVC's website:

Full HD: 1920 X1080i VBR MPEG 2 @26.6 Mbps avg

SP HD: 1440X1080i VBR MPEG 2 @19Mbps avg

LP HD: 1440 X 1080i VBR MPEG 2 @ 11Mbps avg

Also supports 1440X1080i CBR @ 27Mbps

All the above use MPEG 2 audio which will be transcoded when making a DVD or Blueray disc.
