Roxio Creator 9

Question

Every so often, when I click on the desktop icon for opening Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, it will not work. When I try open it going to it in programs (start-all programs), it will not work. I cannot open the software at all. When this happens, the only thing I can do is uninstall and reinstall the software. I"ve had to do this at least 4 times now. Any idea why this is happening and if there is a fix I can download? I have XP operating system with at least SP2, if not SP3 (I have automatic updates enabled).

Sorry for the delay in getting back. It has been a busy time for me and I just forgot to check back. Thanks to all of you who gave suggestions.

 

Grandpabruce, the clean install does seem like something I would like to try only as a last ditch based on the steps it takes. I'm fairly computer literate, but if I did something wrong, I'm not sure I could get it fixed on my own, though there is always the system restore.

 

Brendon, is there a reason you don't just give the fix on the post? I know sometimes there are people who try to lure you to give their email address for spam/hacking/etc. I just need a better feeling to email you for trying the fix you say is permanent. Forgive my lack of trust...I hope you don't take it personal. Are you some sort of certified or expert person that others can verify for you? Or am I just going to have to make a decision to email you or not?

 

Thanks to cutterms for your suggestion. I will also keep it handy, even if it is not a permanent fix.

If Brendon says it, you can take it to the bank!!!

 

If your problem is the same as in the tread he cited, he does have a solution that will work but it is not for public consumption on this board.

The clean install is a last ditch fix.

 

Read this post http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=31874 and send me a private message with your email address [Click on my name to the left of this post, to send the message] and I'll send you the repairer utility which will fix the problem permanently.

I've just stumbled upon this thread and would like to share my experience. I have also had the problem of the desktop icon not responding and I seem to have found a fix (albeit not permanent)

 

When the icon fails to respond, open Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and select processes tab. You should see a process called Roxio .... 33 (I can't remember the exact title but it does say 33). Highlight and end this process. Exit WTM and you should find the Roxio icon will now respond.
