Import Photos Hang

Jed Clampett

Question

Howdy,

I just upgraded from EMC 7.5 to EMC 10 using clean install method and I am now unable to import photos from my Canon IS1100. When the program launches, CPU utilization immediately goes to 100% and my system hangs. The only way I can shut the program down is via Task Manager. My camera is connected via USB. This never was an issue with EMC 7.5. Not a deal breaker as I can use other capture programs on my machine, which all work fine. Just figure I should be able to use the photo import function with this program as well. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Turn off media Manager or select the folders you want it to catalog. It is searching your computer and cataloging all your files. It will do this only once but you may have so many files to catalog that it is taking a lot of time. The system is not really hung.

Hi. I actually had already disabled Media Manager in msconfig when I first installed the program, at least until I can gain control over what it catalogs. I'll have to try it again and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply Sknis.
