June516
Hello All, while trying to install AVG Anti-Virus software to test for possible purchase, I got the following error: "Installer has detected that there is an outdated version of the program Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, which contains a bug that (among others) can cause problems with AVG 8.0. We recommend you to update this software prior to installation of AVG 8.0. An update package is available on the Roxio web page." I went to the website but did not find a newer update than the one I already have, 5.3.5.10. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it, other than the obvious one to upgrade Roxio, which I really don't want to do? Thanks in advance, June
Brendon
I usually advise my friends to get rid of AVG Free and go to one of the other free AV programs such as Avast!, but if you want to fix this I think it's the issue that AVG has with Sonic's CRD4 module. There's an update available for that module which might stop the fight with AVG. http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/mserr/cdr4_7.html Regards, Brendon
June516
Hi Brendon, thanks for the reply and the link. I downloaded it and will try it. However I downloaded another anti-virus for evaluation and had no problem installing. June

June516
Thanks June, I'd be interested to hear if that download solves that problem, please. Regards, Brendon Hi Brendon, if I decide to install the update and then install AVG, I'll definitely let you know. Right now the anti-virus software I downloaded, seems to be running ok (CA version 9.0). Someone I work with is not too crazy about CA, but so far it seems ok. Brendon
Understood. Like many programs, a person's view of an AV application can be strongly influenced by a good or a bad experience with it. If you have one AV going okay, why get out the spanner and modify things just to put in another. Thank you, Brendon
