Tivo Transfer - Shows That Can't Be Transfered

I have a series 2 tivo and can connect to it with no trouble. Some of the shows I want to transfer have 'not' symbols next to them. Any idea why? I don't see any commonality between them...some HD I can transfer, some I can't, some regular broadcast I can transfer, some I can't. I have hard drive space available on both the tivo & my laptop. Is this a lockdown by the TV channel?

I ran into this too. Per Tivo's website on the topic of transferring shows from Tivo to your Mac, "Shows that cannot be transferred due to copy protection restrictions are marked with a red circle slash." Unfortunately, this makes up the majority of what I record.

 

Another letdown from technology and software that seemed like such a great idea.
