RichardAL
I think it was Easy Media Creator 7 that I was using last. I now have EMC 10 and cannot find drag-to-disc. I found it very easy to use. If I do a search anywhere it comes up a blank. Has this feature been discontinued and if it has what is the alternative? Thanks RichardAL
out of harms way
Yes, it has been dumped, by Roxio. Use Creator Classic. It is easy, and a far better way to archive your important data. The disc, can be read on any computer, unlike Drag to Disc. (Sometimes) I have upgraded to EMC10 from EMC9 and am also very very disappointed that drag-to-disc has gone. Fortunately drag-to-disc is one of the modules that was not automatically uninstalled when I installed EMC10 - so I've still got it - and it still works - HOORAY!!! I have still to find anything new in EMC10 that I would find useful - but I've only had it for few days. Creator Classic doesn't want to append to a disc that was created undrer drag-to-disc - I get "Buffer under run - illegal request" - I suspect I am going to find that EMC10 has been a total waste of money!! gi7omy
Creator Classic never EVER appended to a D2D formatted disc
exfish
Hi there, Thanks for the reply, However I don't think your suggestion meets with my workflow. It would appear that to use Creator Classic I have to first save the data to my hard disc, which would completely undermine the workflow. I am editing photo images, I want to download from the camera onto discs that have previous image data (recorded in drag to disc) and then take them through various editing stages, at each stage returning them to the disc until required again. As there are various projects on the go it makes sense to store off computer until the're required. Perhaps I'm missing something but when working in Photoshop I should be able to "save as" straight to disc without having to save to the hard disc first and then transfer to cd or dvd. Surely the guys at Roxio made some sort of provision for this? Exfish
Jim_Hardin
The program isn't there nor will it be restored… It is time to move on. It is built into Vista, although that is not compatible with any old discs. You could install just the D2D portion from your old software. but you run the strong chance that it will become obsolete down the road and not work when you update the service pack??? Your "workflow" implies that you have all of your eggs in one media basket and needs to be revised anyway!
Jim_Hardin
"Creator Classic doesn't want to append to a disc that was created undrer drag-to-disc - " Never has, never will! Nor will any other Authoring software either… Authoring software and packet writing are incompatible. Likewise a disc fomated for Authoring could never be written to by any packet writer... exfish
Hi Guys, Just upgraded to 10, what a dissapointment, okay there are a few new gimmics which given time might prove useful. However the ability to save and rewrite data like to a floppy to a CDRW seems to have been overlooked. I have looked at media creator section and I can't find any reference to this problem, yet in the help files I found a mention of drag to disc but not where it is. I assume that I must go back and add emc9 to restore this facility. Is there anyone at roxio who takes an interest in helping the customer? Does anyone know whether Nero has this included? Exfish You can cut and paste to a floppy disk. You can burn to a CDRW, quite easily, with Creator Classic. You can rewrite to the CDRW, also.
