When attempting to burn an HD file (720p) onto a DVD in Bluray format - I get almost to the end when it says it cant find a file"00001.m2ts" - Data fork -39 and the comes up with a MAC OS Error Result = -39.

I am burning just 1 file of 1.2 gig.

I have gone through many different disk types +R -R +RW - RW.

all witht he same error. I have also tried different files.

Ah yes, welcome to the -39 error that Roxio has no real answer for, and there's no guaranteed way around it. Tonight I was burning a disc and it failed with a -39 error. I then clicked save as disc image - it wrote to disc fine and I was able to burn the image.

 

If you search the forums you'll see user's best guesses as to what causes it and how to work around it. People suspect its related to the file type or how many times you've used Toast since restarting - but there's nothing definitive. My only rule of thumb is to close Roxio often and keep your project files separate

I get the same thing consistently whenever I try to make author a Blu-Ray using MPEG-4 AVC encoding. If you switch the encoding settings to MPEG-2, it doesn't have this problem.

 

Thank you - followed your recommendation and yes it works - making the bit rate as high as possible - makes for a quick burn. Burning in MPEG2 compresses the image so much that it is quite a deterioration from the original HD file

I found the solution to the "can't find file" error, in this thread below:

Go to Toast preference, and under "Storage" tab, change "Delete Converted Items" to "Never". After doing this, I was successfully able to make a short sample clip into Blu-Ray using AVCHD compression. And it does look quite a bit better than the previous MPEG2 version I had previously made.
