Videowave Closes When I Try To Add Background Music

yccgeh

Question

I have been using EMC10 for several months without a problem. I downloaded the Roxio "Program" update file and installed it. Now when I am building a slide show in VideoWave and I click on "Add Backbround Audio" I received an error message that VideoWave has encountered a problem and has to close.

The error signature is: AppName: videowave10.exe AppVer: 10.1.2.18 ModName: smartsound.dll ModVer 3.0.2.4 Offset: 00001a19

I have the latest Direct X update and Nvidia driver.

Dell Dimension 4550

Intel Pentium 4 2.66GHz

1024 MB Ram

Windows XP prof/svc pack 2

Nvidia GeForce4 MX 420

SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio

Any help would be appreciated

When you say you click on "Add Background Audio". are you clicking on the string on the menu on the left side of the screen, or are you clicking on the little Icon for that same thing ?? (small blue music note with a small green "+" sign). BTW, either one should do the same thing and give you a screen for downloading "SmartSound" audio. And when you click on that listing, do you get the SmartSound screen ? and if so are you choosing YES or NO ??

When it did work for you how did it react for you ??

FRank,

When I open VideoWave I can either edit an existing production or start a new production. Using either option, after I load pictures into the production, there is an "Add Content" box in the upper left corner of the screen with several options. The second option down is "Add Background Audio". When I click on that option, I receive the message that VideoWave has encountered a problem and has to shut down. I also tried clicking on the blue music note in the production editor section and had the same result.

Before I downloaded the update to EMC10 I would click on that option and could either use SmartSound or music files I have downloaded.

Thanks, Gerald

Well, you were doing the correct method to add either SmartSound or your own audio files, so I see nothing wrong there. Let me do a little mnore expermenting on what you are attempting to do and see if I can in some way duplicate your problem. I doubt that I can but I'll give it a go.

One more question out of curiousity---When in Videowave and have a new or previously loaded videowave program, click on "TOOLS--OPTIONS" on the top menu. And when the screen "Application settings" comes up, look under the listing "Audio Filter" and see what path you have for audio filters.

If it was working, there was no need to download and install the so called update. It has no new features.

You could try the clean install, and install your original version.
