den1
Hi, Has anyone else had problems with out of sync audio/video? I contacted support and they said that the audio must be 16 bit. I was not aware of this and the video was shot in 12 bit. How ever most of the video is fine apart from two short but important parts. Also another video which was shot a few days later and still in 12 bit is fine. I have updated my ticket with support but as yet have not had a reply. Can anyone help me under stand why only a couple of small parts of the video are out of sync and not all of it if it is because it was shot in 12 bit audio. den1
I'm just guessing but I think Toast looks at the frame rate to determine if a video is PAL or NTSC. If it is 25 fps then it is PAL. If it is 29.97 or 30 fps then it is NTSC. Of course the resolution is also different between the two. I don't know why Toast would be confused about your source video. Since Toast has to encode the video any way, I'd go ahead and do it both ways just to see if there is any difference in how the final DVD looks. By the way, choose Save as Disc Image and then mount that image file to preview your DVD with DVD Player. That way you won't waste discs with these experiments. If all is well then you can burn the disc image using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. Hi, Thanks for that. Update. I copied the project from iMoves (in which all appears fine) to tapes in my camera with it now set to 16 bit audio. I should have looked at the tapes in the camera first but no I spent 1.5 hours transferring back to iMoves. Guess what the same 2 sections are out of sync. On viewing the tape they are out. Any more suggestions please.

den1
Here is an Apple knowledgebase article on a way to convert the 12 bit audio to 16 bit while keeping it in sync. Thank you, I will check it out. Something else I did not mention earlier. When I write to DVD disc I get a message that says.... The TV standard is set to PAL but all your content is in NTSC. Do you want to write an NTSC disc or re-encode all content to PAL. I clicked the button to re-encode to PAL. On checking the video in iMove it is in fact encoded to PAL. Den.
