Error With Le Version

Choroid

Question

I have reinstalled Roxio Creator MyDVD Combo LE on a Windows XP Pro machine this was OEM from Dell I can copy CD Music fine When I try to use the Data Direct to Disk the copy part takes place and just before the DVD door is ejected by the Make Compatible function I have a BLUE screen of death

I have used the Windows MS debugging tool and have two variations of this error depending on when and how the DVD RW drive is opened

I am told the error is in "ntkrpamp.exe" with an address at 0x0000007E 0xC0000005 so on the debugger talks about a BIOS error and other help groups talk about a driver compatibility issue

I have spent 2 hours on the phone with DELL who just says talk to Microsoft at $59.00/hr

I am extremly upset that I can not use this drive unless Roxio is installed on the computer

I have never had anything but trouble from this company with my 5th development computer which was a Me machine with Creator on as OEM from Gateway

So the question is simple ha ha Do I have a bad or out dated driver?

Can I purchase some other company DVD RW software that will install and let me use the functions associated with XP like the Back UP utility?

OR god forbid do you Roxio have a slolution?

I am sure it is nice to sell a ton of LE editions but tell the buyer you will support the product or that they need to have staff that can support the product. I understand that it is hard to make one software product play with another product but this is utterly #$& in 9

I guess my first suggestion is to go to the Microsoft site and search for that error and a repair. It also seems that you have also been told that it is an Windows error and that your Windows needs to be fixed.

Why are you posting here if several people have told you it is a Microsoft Windows error?

First, uninstall WMP 11 if you have it; just roll back to WMP 10; I found one thread when I googled for that error that was repaired by doing so. or

Get out your Windows disc and put it in your drive, boot to the disc and when the options come up select "R". That should repair Windows without wreaking havoc with the files on your hard drive. Do not update to WMP 11 or IE7.

Data direct to disc? I hope you are not talking about "Drag to Disc"; a packet writing application that requires formatted discs. You should be able to disable it (msconfig) or uninstall that application through Windows Add-Remove programs. I don't know how D2D would give you a BSOD or would have caused that Windows error. You are the first person posting on these threads that have that particular problem.

In the future, use Creator Classic to back up those files.

Don't rant here if you have a Dell or Microsoft problem.

We aren't Roxio, so we don't sell anything Roxio, to anyone.

You don't want a Roxio solution, for your stripped down OEM version, anyway, so it is time to move on to MS to solve your MS problem.

Dwight,

Are you trying to use a system that writes to a formatted disc by dragging the file onto the disc icon? [Drag-to-Disc, DLA, or one of those similar Roxio/Sonic programs]??

If so, that system frequently produces a BSOD on eject. That's one of the reasons I wouldn't suggest that people use it. You would be better off saving your data to unformatted discs with one of the other 'authoring' writer systems provided in the software.

Regards,

Brendon
