Video Wave 10 ... Unable To Load Skin

John Eccker

Question

I was running EMCS 8 when this problem started to occur. I hadn't made any other changes to my system (other than whatever Windows is updating in the background) and I started to get an "Unable to Load Skin" error when I tried to run Video Wave (either from inside the menu program or directly running the .exe file). Figuring I was going to have to uninstall and reinstall anyway, I updated to EMCS 10. But I got the same error. I then looked for a solution in this forum and found one thread where it was suggested to uninstall all Roxio and Sonic software using the Windows Clean Install untility (or something like that <grin>), delete directories and registry entries, and reinstall. That still didn't work. I've updated my video drivers (which I don't think were out of date - last update for them was dated 2005) and made sure I had the newest DirectX installed. Still no change, except after I click on OK for the "Unable to Load Skin" error, the computer pretty much locks up for several minutes and then gives me the following error:

Instruction at "0x61105397" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read". VideoWave10.exe

After which I have to reboot to get anything to work correctly (I couldn't even get into this forum, for example, without rebooting).

Gateway CX200X Laptop, Windows XP Pro with all updates, ATI Mobility Radeon X600 SE video card.

Cheers,

John
