Creator 10 Suite - Cannot Install From Cd

JerryP

Question

I have done the complete "clean" of any ROXIO or SONIC entries in registry and Documents & Settings folders. I have attempted installing the COMPLETE and the TYPICAL installs, but stops about 2/3 along and rolls back.

The error shown is: "Roxio Easy Media Creator setup was interrupted. Your machine has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again."

WHAT does "modified" mean?

I have also used the MS Uninstall program, which does NOT show any Roxio or Sonic entries.

I am VERY close to axking for a refund! :angry2: Years ago I had version 9 and had problems. I reverted to NERO without problems. However, I wanted to give Roxio another chance.........BUT.

I am using Windows XP with SP3. (Is SP3 the problem? If so, is there a fix?)

Thanks,

Jerry

Were your antivirus / spyware etc. programs shut off prior to attempted install? Also, have you read this thread?

Thanks to ALL that have replied. No Joy today.

I have done the cpmplete "Clean Installation procedure" without luck, even cleaning the registry of any Roxio or Sonic entries.

The M/S Windows Install Clean Up software does NOT remove the "DirectXInstallService 9.0.2" that is on my computer! It only flashes, goes back to original screen and the file is still there!

Short of any more good suggestions it is off to the REFUND department and a hassle there.

It is rediculous to have to jump through so many hoops to install a program. I've never had so much trouble and have several scientific type programs installed.

Thanks again,

Jerry

DirectX is a Microsoft app - not a Roxio one

It sounds more likely that there is a problem with your OS rather than a problem with the software

IF that were so, why would I not have problems when installing other software packages (which I have NOT).

Why would it be ONLY EMC 10? Sorry, but that does not compute in my mind! Thanks anyway.

Perhaps because your other software does not use DirectX? :glare:

Have the same problem under Vista SP1 (Core Duo 1Gb, 160gb, 256mb, notebook). But before I get "was interrupted" message, I get a message box from Windows Installer which gives me a help on using msiexec (it does it twice). I do not see any directx in Windows install clean up. There was never any Roxio products on this new comp. I am using custom setup (to disable Cineplayer since it requeres to remove Acer Arcade player).

1. While it may not be the DirectXInstaller Service cause of the issue, perhaps verify the following key or any reg key related to it is not present.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{098122AB-C605-4853-B441-C0A4EB359B75}

2. Follow clean install instructions and then create a new user account (administrator)

3. Copy the contents of the installation disc to say desktop and then attempt to install.

When I finally decided to type my name and company name during installation in English, instead of Russian (that I always use as my native language) - everything worked out. I also renamed directx folder in my unpacked on drive D installation (just to see if it uses it or not during install). Not sure which one worked, but it seems that the problem was in using Russian language in name and company fields of installation wizard.

It's possible that it has read one of the Cyrillic characters as a control code during install

My own language (Irish) has only 18 letters so that may be why I never came across that but as Cyrillic uses more than the Roman 26, that could be an explanation

Pure guesswork I do have to admit

However - nice job getting it to work - udachi tovarich!
