Trimming The Middle Of A Video

Not really. – DVD's are 720 X 480 regardless of what makes them, that is as good as they get.

In Tips & Tricks there is mention of making a HI DEF Slideshow. There are some severe limitations to this but look it over and see what you think.

BluRay is about the only way to go but Roxio does not fully support it yet.

So Jim ... I just got back from Africa with lots of snaps and movies from a digital camera. I was wondering which program I should use to put them together. My dvd would combine slideshows and movies ... but maybe I should just use video wave ... what do you think?

Thanks again.

I am not Jim, but VideoWave is the program you should use to create the productions. MyDVD is for authoring and burning the VideoWave production.

Just started with this program. I am trying to trim the inside of a video and can only find how to trim the start or finish in video wave. Can you help me?

Thanks

Sure. Go to the "start point" of where you want to start your trim, hit the "plus" sign (right under the words "production editor" in videowave). A yellow marker is created. Go the the end of the section to be trimmed, hit the plus sign again, move somewhere in between the two markers you created, click the "red x" (right next to the plus sign you've been using), a line appears connecting the markers you created, hit the x again, and you are all trimmed out. Wonderfully described, in the context of getting rid of commercials, here.

Thanks so much. You saved me a lot of time and trouble. Don't know why it isn't in the help section. Thanks again.

If you are going to work in Video you must learn its' language…

Think of cine film. You can only Trim from the beginning or end of film.

You cannot Trim in the middle of film! You must Cut that section at the beginning and end of the unwanted portion.

Thanks ... I am really just beginning. Just a note about EMC 10. Some of the ways to "cut" weren't available to me in the descriptions above. There didn't seem to be a red X next to the +- sign ... finally one of the posts told me to use the split feature and that finally worked. I am very greatful for all the quick responses as I am anxious to learn all about this amazing program.

thanks again.

Take a look at the snapshot included in this post. I think the red "x" icon becomes active (from greyed-out status) only after you have marked a video section to be cut (by clicking an area between two consecutive markers).

I think you're referring to the post in this thread that I made (which I deleted afterwards seeing that Syrallas posted a suggestion ahead of me but didn't see it till I finished my post) referring you to the video tutorial of sknis on cutting out a section of a video clip. Sorry for taking the post down. But i'm glad it helped you.

Like Context Menus, Icons become active only when you reach a condition that they can be used in. (of course there are exceptions!!!)

Look how the Icons change in these examples:

No Clip Loaded:

Clip Loaded but Not Selected:

Clip Loaded & Selected but No Split:

Tips & Tricks Conference area will also provide some excellent examples.

Thanks for all the info. I am going to print out this stream and save it. One other question: I read somewhere that the quality of the photos is better in a slideshow than incorporating them in video wave. Any reaction to this?
