Brendon
If rebooting [which unloads everything from memory] will allow you to start "the program" [you don't say which program] once, but after exiting it you can't restart it until you reboot, then it seems likely that "the program" is staying resident after you exit. What is "the program" and how long are you waiting after exit before you try to start it again? Why are you exiting, if you need "the program" again so soon afterwards? cdanteek
then it seems likely that "the program" is staying resident after you exit. Would you check and see if any Roxio/Sonic programs appear in task manager, processes, when the program is closed? If so, highlight them by clicking on them and click end task, then try to open 'Easy Media Creator 10 Suite' again. cd
cdanteek
I did the msconfig and found two items one on my list the other not. Did the apply and rebooted. Opened with the Icon and selected a program and then closed.Running processes showed the first three items from my list, but not the RoxWatchTray10 and of course the Icon will not start the Roxio. I am not very good at these things, as you see. bear1k Try this in XP, click start, right click my computer, click manage. The computer management window opens. Click the + next to services and applications, then click (highlight) services. On the right side of this screen look for Roxio entries and what they are set to, under startup. Set them to manual by double clicking or right click properties on them, then under startup type, click the drop down arrow and select manual. Now click the apply button at the bottom of that window. Set all Roxio entries to manual, now see if that helps? cd

Also looked at the run tab and all rixio items were "stopped". Ido not know bear1k

System Configuration Utility window opens, click the startup tab, uncheck anything named Roxio like the ones you mentioned above and click apply at the bottom. Now reboot the pc, a warning message appears while booting. I think you click ok, so it won't show when rebooting again. Now open Roxio from your icon on the desktop and use some program. When done close the program then check for running processes in task manager, hopefully there won't be any. cd

cdanteek
bear1k, I could think of other things to try, not really sure they would help! Things like Disk Cleanup and check it all, Defrag the Hard Drive, do start run, %temp%, ok, delete all temp files! Unless someone else has a idea?? I think you probably need to do #10 or 11 in my signature (what os version applies). Or live with the work around endtask way. sorry, cd

I clicked on the Rixio Icon and the menu came up and then I closed the program. Waited a short time and then clicked on the icon again---no joy! Then I opened task manager-processes and their was one rixio item running---Roxio_Central36. It apears that i am down to one process not closing(is that the right way to look at it?). I have sounds that play when various events in the OS. When I close the rixio I get NO closing sound; so you are right on target for the problem--it is the solution that is very evasive! Thank for your continued help; it always stuns me how you come up with so many things to try!! bear1k

Syrallas
I click on the desktop Icon and the program starts and functions normally. I close program ,normal as far as I can tell. Try to start it agin and nothing happens. If I reboot I can start the program, but only ONCE! I have used the repair program for the registery and re booted and of course it will load--once! I do not know what is wrong and could use any and all help! Thanks, bear1k Try a clean install. Use this link for XP or this link for Vista. Turn off your anti-virus / spyware programs when doing the install. Follow instructions in the clean install to the letter. I'd suggest you print them out before hand and don't skip steps. Don't have any other programs running while you do this. If the above doesn't work you will need to post pc specs.
