Me too, Me too

Video Junkee

Question

I am getting a very similar problem. Any time I insert a transition between two pictures I will get a Windows error and the program closes. It did not happen between every two pictures, but if it does happen once between a specific two pictures once, it will always happen. As my production is getting bigger, the more times the errors occur. I tried in Storytime and Timeline view with the same results. I did try the "To test this, in Video Wave, go to the top menu and select tools, then options and then put a dot next to software. Try to use one of the transitions that show up, You will not have the 3D transitions nor some of the others that require a good video card" I see effects. Now what??

Ok ~

The effect I see when the computer does the software graphics test is a black square box that zooms in and out while the computer test the memory. The test completes fine. I defragmented my hard drive and cleared the proxy files. This is going to be a production of my 4th of July pics and video clips. The pics and video are all from the same camera taken on the same day. The camera is an 8 MP Sony. The output video is only an 11 minute + production with the pics being the standard 5 seconds long. I did not have any programs running, antivirus, etc. and same problem.

I have a Windows 200 Pro system, GE Force 5200 video card, 1 GB RAM, Pentum 4 2.8 GHz

What other specs do you want?

Thanks for the help!!

re: Last sentence - what effects?

Go to the same place that you checked software and clear the proxy files. Try again. Make sure that you have plenty of space on a defragmented hard drive for Roxio to store the files. Turn off all other running programs after you disconnect from the internet including your anti-virus and anti-Malware programs.

Is there anything in common with the image files that cause the issue? Same source, resolution, etc?

How long is the production? You can put a one hour production on a single sided DVD at best quality; almost 2 hours at a reduced quality. Double that for a DL disc.

Please list your system specs especially your video card/chip and what OS you are running.

Windows 2000 Pro Service Pack 4 or are you trying to run the program on a server? SP4 is the minimum OS. Have you tried to update the video card driver and Microsoft Direct X 9c? The driver for that card and your OS is dated late 2006.

After the test, where is the dot - near hardware or software? Use the Nvidia control panel to set the performance to best performance and away from best appearance. Ste the anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing to software controlled.

How much free space on the hard drive you are trying to use?

Is this a new problem or have you been able to do a project in Video Wave before this?

Ok ~

I am running Windows 200 SP4 directly. I do have the 10/22/06 updated driver from my video card as well. I do have Direct X 9c. I have checked both the hardware and software during the performance test. I did change my video card Nvidia performance to the best performance setting, but the anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing settings were already at application controlled (I am hoping that is the same as software controlled). About the length of this problem: This is only my second project with this software. My first project was only 7 minutes long with 4 or 5 of those minutes being 2 video clips and 22 photos. It would let me put transitions between most pictures, but not between a select few. Now that this project is bigger, I am having no success.

Also are you running EMC 9.0 or 9.1? 9.0 should work but there is a question if 9.1 will.

Also from Roxio:

EMC 9.0 Deluxe did not support Windows 2000. The system requirements listed on the EMC 9 Deluxe web page in the Roxio Store are incorrect. Several third party components in EMC 9 Deluxe are not supported on Windows 2000.

Perhaps time to upgrade OS (and maybe computer). :)

I do have an older hard drive that is only 37 GB with 10 GB free. I should upgrade that I am sure, as well as my whole operating system.

Thanks for all the help and feedback. If you have any more suggestions for me, please let me know.

With only 10GB free space you will have lots of problems doing video work
