Trouble With New Version

videographer

Question

I have upgraded to the new version (6.4) and found a problem. My media is an h264 file which I have attempted to trim using the mark in and out tools. When I burn or generate a disk image, after the transcoding, the process stops with a a message that either I have interupted the process, or there is an error. When I ok that I get the runtime error that is all too familier, so then when I restart DVDit Pro HD all of the project content is lost. :angry2:

If I dont trim the file all is well - can anyone help please?

we're miscommunicating. when you import a video or audio file into DVDit Pro HD it creates a session file. what I think is going on is that the video or audio you are importing is creating a corrupt session file. so the next time you try to load your project you can not do so because the program can not find the file you imported. what was in your project that failed to load when you tried to re-open it?

Hi Scott, the error message does not tell me what is missing. As it was a test to checkout the functionality of the new version, I dont have any menues, just the movie as a first play. The image file that I was able to generate had the wrong aspect ratio 4:3 instead of 16:9 I dont know if that is significant.

I have tried saving several times but the project will not load. Where does the session file live? I cannot find it - could it be because my program files are not on drive C?

ok, you've just narrowed the asset issue down to the one movie you fed to DVDit. where did that movie come from? what was the video, what was the audio? what was it's aspect ratio? 1440x1080? i am willing to bet that if you build another project with that asset that you will find that the project will not re-open after you save it. If I can get the same, or a similar a asset, we can try to correct the issue.

Further information, I find after saving the image file that again all the project content has gone. In other words if I open the project, after the warning about missing files I click on locate, and then nothing is found and I have an empty project :(

Please help, I am worse off than with the old version.

The movie is VBR h264 50Hz PAL interlaced 1440x1080 with AC3 audio. The file is about 2.7GHz.

trimming of AVC and VC-1 is not supported at this point. on the "failure to load"...sounds like a bad session file was created. If you want to post a small "failing to load" file for me I will be happy to check it out.

Thanks Scott, I am not sure which file you want. The strange thing is that after a successful creation (and saving the project) there apears to be nothing left of the project (other than the image files).

I need the raw asset from the project that is causing the issue. create a project with just the AVC. save it, try to reopen it. if it does not reopen properly, that is the file I need (or a similar shorter version)

Where would the file be? When I try to re-open the project and the file is reported as missing, the menu bar says untitled, so it hasnt loaded anything it would seem.
