Export Tivo Files To Other Dv Or Dv50

Fred R

Question

Hi

I just upgraded to Toast 9.02 and I was absolutely disappointed.

The audio sync issues are still there! and not just that:

Before I was able to convert from TiVo files to almost ANY OTHER TYPE of video files, including DV and DV50PRO (to mitigate quality loss).

Now we are limited to just a few LOW RES video formats. DivX conversion is awful!, the aspect ratio is completely ruined with this format.

I already tried all of them and it is just frustrating as mentioned before.

With earlier versions of 8, there was a workaround for converting TIVO files to another formats: renaming them to MPG and convert them. Now ROXIO is preventing that and we have to stick to low res video formats for iPods, PSPs, etc.

I used to convert everything to DV and then work it on Final Cut Express and iDVD with minimal quality loss.

If anybody knows some kind of workaround, please let me know.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

DV is one of the available export options. Perhaps you haven't seen that those export options are now moved to a Convert window rather than being in the Video window. The Convert window is the icon on the right side (Data, Audio, Video, Copy, Convert). When you click the red button in the convert window the export options are shown.

Hi TSantee

Thanks for replying.

Yes, DV is one of the available export options. Before adding the .TiVo files, I am allowed to select it and change the settings, BUT, as soon as I add the TiVo files, a dialog box is displayed asking the user to change it to H264, MP4 or some of the presets for iPod, AppleTV, PSP or DivX, somehow, the software overrides my selection.

Thanks

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for replying

Yes, I still have the audio sync issues, not just with Tivo but with other formats: MPG, WMV, AVI and it is more severe when I use the Automatic encoding instead of the Custom settings.

Thanks,
