The avi is only 600mb. and i am putting it on a 4.7g dvd. Why is it does it say that the dvd is almost full? thanks

Depending on your system, this can take some time to do.
gi7omy
You have to forget original size when converting for DVD player format. Basically, one hour movie = 1 DVD .avi files are highly compressed. While they are only 600 odd MB, when you convert that to the vob format for a set-top player, it will be a LOT larger: so large that it will be over the 4.3 GB of a standard DVD However, due to a bit of trickery, EMC is able to compress the output to fit on a standard DVD and the price is a loss in quality, but usually that's not very noticable when viewed on a standard TV screen
