Windows Won't Allow Me To Write To Cd Or Dvd

lynnstjames

Question

Dell Dimension 4550 Pentium 4

Windows xp

16x dvd-rom drive

New 4x DVD+RW/Rdrive w/cd-rw

running

Roxio creator 10

Roxio Easy cd 5.3.4.21

I have trouble reading and writing to cd-r, dvd + or -. When I use Iso buster...it will load the data or pictures. When I run device manager both drives are recognized. I uninstalled and reinstalled re: Dell. Nothing is highlighted for being in error state. Dvd identifier reads media in drive. Could I be running something incompatible or? Can't use Windows to save to disks or Roxio.

It sounds like you have using DirectCD to write data files to disc. However, if you can provide more details on how the data is being burnt, what application is being used? Also what do you mean when you mention, Can't use windows?

I was but now I have downloaded Creator 10.1 and I still can't burn to drive E a cd or dvd. I have used c-r and dvd+rw. Creator looks like it will work but nothing gets saved. I am trying to save pix and data.

You are not providing any information that anyone can use to help you…

DirectCD was a 'packet writer'. XP can read a pw disc (unless it was compressed) however the 'packet writer' program was dropped in EMC 10.

This means that you will have to use one of the Disc Authoring programs, but you will not be able to write to a disc like it was a floppy.

Read you data off of your previous discs and use Creator Classic or Data Disc (Home menu) or even XP Burn (part of XP) to burn the discs.

The advantage will be that these will create a disc that is always compatible with the OS and is rock solid stable.

I think she's trying to do exactly that, Jim. :(
