Music Disc Creator - Roxio Emc 9

leeclose

Question

I've been working with the Music Disc Creator portion of Roxio EMC 9.0.546 successfully for the past week. Until today. Nothing changed - I didn't reboot or incorporate any Microsoft updates. When I select Music Disc Creator (of which I have saved several projects), it just hangs. That's it.

I've uninstalled Roxio/Sonic files, I've fixed the registry, I've done it all (like I have done repeatedly in the past), but nothing's working. I've checked for viruses, cleaned up my registry, cleaned out temp spaces...Keeps saying "Please wait...Loading component" - forever!

Dell 8300, XP, Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 2.99 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

I'm in the middle of making rehearsal CDs for my community chorus! I've finished the sopranos - but the altos, tenors and basses need help too!

Okay okay okay! Finally a clean install worked. Though I had done about 3 today already, I happened to read one post "Reallllyyy frustrated..." re: a hanging screen. I read that IE7 and WMP11 might be a problem, so I uninstalled them (with alot of complaining from Microsoft's little brain in my PC). Then I did another clean install process - and - tada!! It finally worked...

Question: why is EMC so sensitive to MS change? Will I have to go through this ALL the time? <sob>

It happens, but you might want to reboot your computer once in awhile. I know some folks, who claim that they leave their computers on, 24/7. IMHO, that is i-d-i-o-t-i-c.
