Mydvd 10 Dvd Issues

MSPants

Question

Hi all

I've just purchased the download version of MyDVD 10 Premier.

I have downloaded the two files (the link was given after I paid for the product), 'RoxioMyDVDPremier10.1_FA30AZS0MYP.exe' and 'MyDVD10Content_3826AZS0SQA.exe' along with my CD Key.

Firstly, I installed the first file ('RoxioMyDVDPremier10.1_FA30AZS0MYP.exe') and hit problems. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled by unzipping the file into a seperate directory to install from there. I have uninstalled and installed typical, custom and complete and each time I start the application from the start menu it configures everything every time. If I choose a project it installs again and wants me to reboot each time. Why?

The second file ('MyDVD10Content_3826AZS0SQA.exe') won't install at all because, as it tells me, 'Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 must be installed...' even though this was part of the download. Why?

These however pale into insignificance when I realise that there is now way to create a DVD in MyDVD 10 Premier! I can create an audio cd (after it installs itself) or a data disc (after it installs itself), I can even copy a disc (after it installs itself) but I can't create a DVD! Why?

My system? A 2.20 Intel dual core with 4Gb RAM, two DVDs (one player, one rewriter), more hard disk space than you can shake a stick at, Nvidia 1Gb PCIe graphic card and a Creative 5.1 sound card running under Vista Home Premium SP1. Is that the problem?

Am I doing something wrong? I down loaded the trial version of EMC 10 specifically for MyDVD (because MyDVD wasn't available as trial download) and it worked fine then so what's the problem? Any ideas?

Regards

Martin

The second file is the Content which adds additional themes etc. The first file includes program. The clean install instructions should address your Content install issue. I'm not sure how and where were you able to obtain a trial version of EMC 10 and that it works fine.

Besides above issue, I fail to understand what do you intend to create? Can you elaborate on "there is no way to create DVD".

Am I reading this right, you no longer have the program but are still posting in the forum about a week later?!?

You have a problem with this?

I'm still a member of this forum or does not having the program any longer mean I have to hand in my badge?

I'm answering those posts that are aimed at me specifically. Just because I no longer have the program doesn't mean I have to be ignorant. My mother didn't bring her children up to be impolite or ignore people.

Any update on this problem? I also purchased MyDVD 10 Premiere, installed, and have EXACTLY the same issues you did - i.e. no way to make a DVD, the items aren't there. I also have emailed support but if they haven't solved your issue yet...

Hi all

I owe you all an apology. I led everyone here up the garden path with my statement..

This is untrue. I borrowed a friends backup copy of EMC 10 which I presumed was a trial. I have checked with him and it is a full, retail copy.

Once again, many apologies to all for the incorrect information. However, Roxio used to do trial versions of Easy Media Creator but that was many years ago and it looks like I put two and two together and came up with five.

Re: my original post. I have done a clean install of my system and loaded MyDVD 10 on and there are no problems. This was obviously something to do with whatever was sitting on my system at the time that Roxio/Sonic didn't like.

However, on another note. I have been waiting for Roxio support to get back to me for over a week now and the only reply I've had is the auto post telling me that they have received my ticket and will reply in due course. I think that the line "Once a Roxio Agent begins working on your Ticket, ..." should read "If a Roxio Agent begins working on your Ticket, ...".

I have been in contact with other companies of differing sizes and the longest turnaround for support I have had to wait is less than 24 hours.

Come on Roxio, pull your finger out!

Regards

Thanks for the update Martin - but that's a big step to take just to get a program to load. I emailed the Roxio help line on Oct 3rd, have yet to hear anything back from them so I may have to get a refund also and go back to the older version I was using. Too bad.

Hi Tom

I fixed the problem. It involved a re-format of my system and then a clean install of MyDVD.

I have since dumped my copy of MyDVD and got my money back. I have bought Corel DVD MovieFactory 6 Plus (http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/gb/...mp;tabview=tab0) instead. Corel also has a free trial if you want to give it a try.

It's ridiculous that a company like Roxio doesn't bother about anything once they've got your money.

Roxio support has several resources for registered customers. You can find all of Roxio's support options here:

Anyone with the current registered version of a program (or the last legacy version) can create a ticket at:

Hi firenhancer

The trial of Easy Media Creator 10 is available on the Roxio site..

Can you elaborate on "there is no way to create DVD".

There is no menu link to MyDVD or even MyDVD Express.

The clean install instructions should address your Content install issue.

I have tried a clean install and I still have problems. Now I can select MyDVD but get an error "Unable to load skin".

I've opened a ticket with Roxio but I'm still waiting for a reply.

Regards

Hi Martin,

Can you give us a link or tell us how to get the free trial, please? We have many folks here who would like to try it before making the decision on buying it.
