Hp Printer Alert

KER

Question

Hello Roxio Folk,

Here's an alert -- Roxio does not support any other printers but Epson for the direct print to CD/DVD feature. Although HP has a Roxio Easy Labeler download on its FTP site, that download doesn't work. So if you have an HP printer, don't buy any of the Roxio products to use if you want to print directly onto CDs. If you're still using labels, I guess it's fine. And if you're considering getting a printer with direct print to CD/DVD features, make sure it either ships with the software, or that your programs support it.

Bummer, as I have to return the Creator 10 deluxe I just bought and thankfully didn't open until I heard from Roxio.

Anyone who can provide a 'fix' is welcome to do so - however, as HP drivers are copyright by HP, that can't be added to any commercial app without their direct consent. Unfortunately, HP are very reluctant to provide either assistance or consent (believe me - I've been involved in slightly heated discussions with HP over other matters)

I'm sorry but you folks are stuck in the DOS time loop…

With Windows, when you write a program you ask the PrinterObject what printers are installed. That is what you populate the List_Box with.

The user selects one printer and you print to that PrinterObject. You have absolutely no control beyond that!!!

So, if there is a problem printing to a specific printer that problem is because of the Print Driver.

No software manufacture since the introduction of Windows has ever written a Print Driver! They are supplied by the Printer Manufacture.
