Finalizing A Session Problem

gaopa

Question

I have a new Dell computer with Windows XP Pro. It came loaded with Roxio Creator DE 10.2.

I use my CD burner to store photos on a CD and like to have the option to go back later and edit the images. When trying to burn images to a CD with this Roxio program it is finalizing the CD and not allowing me to go back and edit later. I am goint through Data project and adding the images in the usual way. Before clicking the button to burn I go to the Options section in the lower right of the screen and click on the option which is supposed to keep the program from finalizing the CD..... however, it is finalizing the CD and not allowing me to burn additon images nor edit images on the CD. What is going on? Thanks, Bill P.

If that OEM version of the software has Creator Classic, use that program instead.

My old Roxio prog. had Creator Classic and it worked fine.... sadly this version does not have Creator Classic.

My old version is Roxio CD Creator 6.2 and was a download from Roxio. I have uninstalled the new version and tried to install the old one, but the serial number is not being accepted. I have contacted Roxio and they are have not responded .... 3 days now!

In the meantime, I re-installed the DE 10.2 and it is not doing what I need to do.

Thanks, Bill P.

None of us have ever seen the Dell OEM version but I find it a little hard to believe that Creator Classic is not part of it.

Hard to believe but not out of the question, so I will review both ways of writing Sessions.

NEW DISC:

From the Home program, Data and Backup - Data Disc (note Creator Classic right below it?)

Click on Options – Data and Backup. (Ignore the rest, they don't apply and won't do anything to a Data Disc)

Set Type and Mode as indicated. Might as well set Write-Once DVD Compatibility but that setting only applies to a DVD and is ignored if a CD is present.

For All subsequent writes, you must Load Data!!! If you don't the disc will be spit out and you will be told to load a appendable disc.

I always double check the Options to make sure they are still set the way I want.

CREATOR CLASSIC:

With Creator Classic the option is simply Read Only Checked or Un-Checked. However it is only available after you click Burn and you have to have something in the Project Pane to click Burn.

For subsequent writes you must import data!!! When the disc is inserted a popup will appear and the icon will go active. If you don't the disc will be spit out and you will be told to load a writable disc.
