DavidSmith
I know this is an old post, but if someone checks it out and has an idea...a little help would be MUCH appreaciated! So, I am having a chapter issue as well. I have two video files exported out of Final Cut Pro with CM's (chapter markers). They operate fine in QT, but when I put both the files into toast to create one DVD, the strangest thing happens. The first video has its markers all messed up with their timing (automatic is selected for chapters in menu). One effort had the CMs off by about 15 seconds, another off by multiple minutes! The second video has ALL its CM's working fine and they are where they should be. I have checked and rechecked the FCP project, and the CMs are set correctly there, again they open fine in QT, I am using Toast 7.1 and selecting automatic for the CM setting. Any ideas on this one? I do have DVD Studio Pro, but Toast is so much easier bc I do not have to compress proior to by using compressor and several other steps. Can ya help a brotha out? freshburn
Well, Toast supports most of the chapter markers, but for some reason, it doesn't always work. Make sure to set Chapters to automatic on the Edit sheet in video format. Do the chapter markers work OK in Quicktime?

The "automatic" chapter marker detection doesn't detect what you have created -- rather, it searches for breaks in the video. The video that you said the CMs were correct, I'm willing to fault chance, as the logical place to put chapters is generally AT breaks . I'm not entirely sure on how to keep the chapter markers from FCP --, so you'll have to wait for tsantee or freshburn to respond here . One thing to try (I'd suggest you use a RW, as I give no guarantee if this will work...) is to just burn the DVD without using toast's scene detection and seeing if it keeps the scenes. DavidSmith
Thanks for the reply, and sorry for multiple posts. Found this first, but then thought I would make a new topic, as this was old and maybe would go unseen. Anyway, Toast didn't necassarily make the breaks in what one would consider scene break areas. And, again the strange thing is that the second video (and I have burned multiple DVD's with a few things different), but the second video is always correcet to my set CM's using the automatic detect feature, but the first video on the discs CMs are always messed up. Very strange.
