Compressed Disk Or Full Program

Majeskty

Question

If I wa to purchase Creator 2009 from Roxio will the disk be a compressed version or full version. The last time the disk was compressed and when I tried to do a repair it asked for a file and with the disk being compressed it couldn't find it. I was then told it was the diffence of buying the store version (which would not be compressed) or the one from Sonic River or what ever the on line service they use. It was very annoying to find out this long after the fact and you just want to get the program to work again.

Thanks to all.

Even if you purchase the compressed file, you can use any Zip application to uncompress the files and create your own disc. Many of us have done that. Most download services will compress the files so it doesn't take as long to download.

As far as I know, Roxio has never used compression on an application disc. C2009 is probably on a DVD or two CDs.

The EMC 9 that I had purchased from them ON DISK, turned out to be compressed with a program which ran to install and uncompressed it. When I went into Add/Remove and found an option to repair the program, it would ask for a file which was not on the disk for it to read. Doing what you suggested at the time I uncompressed it and created my own disk. The question was if I purchased the disk in a case and not the download why was it compressed in the first place. Some suggested I was sold a backup disk and the uncompressed vesion was only sold in the stores.

If you purchased the online version with a backup disc, I could understand why that disc was compressed. If you purchased a 'retail boxed' version, then those disc should not be compressed.

I have not seen the retail boxed version of C2009. All I have is the download version which I uncompressed and created my own DVD.

To do away from all the confusion, pick up a copy from a store instead of ordering online :)

That was the confusing issue! I had purchased the program on disk and shipped to me and expected a retail box, just received Jewel box with two disks.

NO backup disk, NO download requested.

Thanks for all your help
