.m4a To .mp3

Question

I want to put some .m4a tunes onto a disc as .mp3. I don't care if it is a data disc or a playable disc.

I set Toast to "MP3 disc" and dragged a group of .m4a tunes from iTunes to Toast. Toast burned a CD but the tunes remained in .m4a.

For some reason, I am unable to make an .mp3 CD in iTunes. It says "Insert disc" and then nothing happens.

Looks like I can open each tune in QuickTime, convert it to .aiff, then convert that to .mp3, then use Toast to make either a data disc or .mp3 disc.

Is there a better way?

Thanks.

Ed

Toast cannot encode MP3. You'll need to use iTunes or other application that has MP3 encoding capability before adding them to Toast. Since your tracks are already in iTunes, create a playlist, go to iTunes Preferences>Advanced>Importing and change Import Using to MP3 Encoder. Select the playlist tracks and choose Convert to MP3 in the iTunes Advanced menu.
