No Capture With Easy Audio Capture

Trauma Nurse

Question

I recently upgraded to a new gateway pc with vista. I have a new creative labs vista certified sound card. Everything is functioning properly.

My problem is Easy Audio Capture is not finding any device to capture from. I have used this program with great success with winxp on a previous pc. I had a similar issue until I installed an aftermarket sound card then was instantly able to select it from the drop down box.

I am not sure if this is a Vista, Roxio, or Creative Labs conflict. Can somone give me a starting point?? I have looked at all FAQ. recording devices on control panel has creatives digital input device as selected and working properly. I tried to load several shareware capture programs all with the same failure (i think ruling out roxio issue).

the fact that the sound card works in all other programs leads me to think that the card isn't at fault..

That leaves me with Vista as the culprit...

ANyone have similar issues or more insight?? this poor nurse is at her wits end!!!

HELP!!!!

When you went to the Control Panel did you try this?

Right click on any device that shows in the Recording tab.Check mark Show Disabled Devices and also Show Disconnected Devices. Now see if there are any more devices that show on the Recording tab.If there are look for one that says What You Hear. That's a typical Creative choice. If it's there right click it and check Enable.Do the same for any other devices that may have been hidden.

Now see if you can set Easy Audio Capture to that in Capture From.

Your choice may need to be different depending on what you're trying to capture.

When I first got Vista it was the same for me.Once I enabled all devices I got more choices in Easy Audio Capture.

It's the way Vista handles sound. It isn't the same as it was in XP.

Some folks, who use Vista, will drop in and give you some tips on how to fix it. I am still happily using XP. :)

Thanks, actualy that was suggested in one of the faq so I tried selecting/deselecting. what I havent tried is deleting/reloading roxio or running a jack from headphone out to rec in to see if that does anything... I actually kind of gave up and reloaded my old pc and just use it for music capture.. God love Rhapsody!!!

thanks anyway
