Copying Game Disc To Hard Drive

PeterVan

Question

I want to copy my game disk to the computer hard drive so it starts up faster.

Is there anyway this can be done so the program recognizes it as an original disk? It always wants the original disk in the DVD drive before it starts up, and the start up takes ages.

Thanks for any genius ideas from you.

In some cases you can do this and in some cases the game only looks to an optical drive so it won't work to copy it to a hard drive. Also, some discs can't be copied.

Choose the Copy window and choose Save as Disc Image. When that is done eject your disc. Go to the Finder and select the .toast disc image file. Control-click and choose Mount It from the Contextual menu. You'll now see an icon the same as when you insert the disc. Test to see if that works. If it doesn't work I have no suggestion for any other solution.

Unfortunately it appears that the program is looking for the optical drive and not just the disc image. It was for Age of Empires III and I got this "Make sure the original game DVD is in your Mac's DVD- ROMdrive and try again" after doing what you suggested.

Is there any way that the program can point to the disk image. The startup process for this game is so long I just want to speed it up.

There may be some gamers forum where users have figured a way. I simply don't know of any.
