Burning Just Wont Work

stampinangel

Question

I first off need to apologize for not understanding how to really explain this to you. I have been SUPER frustrated and have at least 100 hours into my first slideshow. Its just awful:(

Here is the problem. I created the slideshow in 10.0 and then added the music tracks. The total appears to be much smaller than the dvd to burn on ( I tried to burn to CD so thought if I upgraded to a dvd it might make it happier). The next steps are unclear to me, sorry about that. I followed the directions but just cant get the disc to create. It seems like it is taking the proper steps but after the first part of transferring the files, it doesnt do the next step which is the burning.

Help? Can someone please take this computer struggling novice under their wings just to be nice? I really need to wrap up this project.

Oh , I cant transfer the edited pics onto a disc either to use them with another movie program I have on a different computer. I did try again and again to do that. I also have roxio 5 on the computer that I have an edited version on without sound files as those refused to be entered into the slideshow.

Thanks a ton for any help you can provide.

First of all lets try and establish what version of EMC 10 you have

Did you by it as a full retail version either as aboxed set or from a download? Or did it come with your computer or burner in which case it is an OEM version and will not have all the features of the retail version.

It would also help if you were to show or list your computer specs in your signature as I have in mine.

Could you also describe exactly the steps you are taking, especially what program from the EMC 10 suite you are using in each step.

You should be using Videowave to assemble the slideshow and save your project as a project file. Then you launch myDVD and add your project file, create a menu and then burn to DVD. You definitely want to burn to a DVD; burning to a CD will give you a very low quality slideshow.

This is a link to one way of doing it; there is a lot of information in the Tips & Tricks forums for both EMC 9 and EMC 10

Karri also has several links to tutorials and demos in her signature

Ok, let me try to explain a bit more and thanks a ton for the reply.

I bought the 10.0 version at target a couple weeks ago after finishing editing a slideshow in 5.0 and not being able to add audio files. FRUSTRATING:)

I have a dell laptop with XP on it.

the real issue is when I edit in videowave, then choose to burn in my DVD express. Next, create folder set, and the encoding preview starts when I choose create disc. Encoding menu, then recording menu, but when finished at 100% nothing else happens but the OK button appears. If you choose that, nothing happens. If you choose that and create disc again it begins all over with encoding.

Does this sound right? I will also try the tips you suggested as well.

"dell laprop with XP" does not tell us very much. You need to list your computer specs: CPU, amount of memory, hard drive, video card etc.

If you have selected "create folder set" and you have also "burn to disc" unchecked then when the "Ok" appears everything worked: your folder set has been created successfully on your hard drive. You now have to use Video COpy & Convert to burn the folder set to a DVD.
