Emc 8 - Music Dvd

nsep2

Question

While using the DVD Music Assistant first and then DVD Music Creator the encoding completes however the burner does not eject the finished DVD (which is part of the advanced options) although data is burned the newly created DVD still will not play. Instead I get a "The DVD volume is invalid" error while playing the new DVD in CinePlayer. It will not play at all in WinDVD or Media Player nor will it play on my stand alone DVD player

The running total of failed DVDs is now 12

I have reinstalled EMC 8 three times now.

I have used different combinations of mp3s and menus available within the Music DVD program.

The medium used is DVD-R.

File formats used are mp3.

All audio tags are correct.

I cannot find any info in the discussion groups.

Roxanne had no answers.

Technical Chat is either offline or not available!

Any suggestions are as always greatly appreciated.

All my drivers are up to date.

My Computer is a HP Pavilion

AMD Athlon XP 3100 2.20 GHz,

1.00 GB of RAM

160GB Hard Drive with approx 87GB free

MS Windows XP

Home Edition

Version 2002

Service Pack 2

Norton Systemworks 2006 ( I tried Music DVD with it uninstalled as well)

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestions. I had relied on Windows XP to update my DVD Burners' drivers. I actually did update the firmware from BenQ to version G7V9 and then reinstalled EMC 8 today. I am not formatting the discs. Now an error message is occurring while encoding. Having tried different combinations of files and menus (see my other post) I am totally frustrated! Again thanks for your suggestions it has been greatly appreciated.

Still no luck with creating a Music DVD!

DVDs used 19 - success rate 0%

I have applied the Hotfix with no success! (Thank you for finding it though.)

I have used different files, variations of menus, styles.

Updated my firmware.

Used different DVD brands including the ones from Roxio.

Reinstalled the program 4 times (including after updating my DVD Burner's Firmware.)

I have rebooted after each reinstall and Hotfix.

I have tried to make a Music DVD with 1 song which finished encoding but wouldn't eject when finished (as per the advanced settings.) So it is not recognized by any other DVD players nor will it play in CinePlayer.

Both the CD Copier and Data Disc programs will burn properly.

You might consider getting a few RW discs so you don't keep making coasters. BTW. what brand discs are you now using? Have you tried a different brand/type? Have you tried burning at a slower speed? Put one or more of those coasters in your computer and run DVD Info Pro to test the media (and your drive).

I must say that the support from this group has been wonderful. Please accept my many thanks!

I tried using wav files with no luck! I am beyond frustrated! Roxio support although flashy with "Ask Roxanne" and its Database has been no help. The online Chat has been offline for days. I can't even find an email address to send my questions. You the Roxio Community have been great. Since I feel that $35 is too much to pay for technical help for new software. I will keep checking back for suggestions but for now I'm going to buy Nero Platinum.

I did not look on the Benq site to see if that is the latest firware, but Windows has absolutely nothing to do with the Benq firmware update.

Are you formatting your discs to burn? You should not be doing that, if you are.

Excellent idea! Guess I was too engrossed in the problem to consider RW. I have used Maxell brand as well as the Roxio brand that came with the software both work as data discs but not a Music DVD. I tried a Sony RW DVD but the same problem occured. Slowing the burn speed didn'd work either.

This probably won't matter but if you are using mp3 files and trying to use PCM as your format try one of the others. The mp3's are already compressed and PCM is an uncompressed format.Maybe this is causing a problem.Probably not but it's worth a try if that is what you're doing.

I'm not 100% on this but by looking on the BenQ site it looks like that drive might be a bulk version of the DW1620.The site says to look on the back of the drive for a sticker for the model number.Does it say BenQ on the faceplate? If not it's a bulk version of one of their drives. If it is a 1620 then the latest version of the software is G7V9 and you should update to the latest version and try again.
