New User Questions

Question

Hi. I am a new user. I am starting a business in which I will create photo slideshows for special occasions. I would like to use my Roxio software to create these slideshows. I am having a hard time figuring out how to import pictures to my new slideshow projects from my hard drive. I seem to only be able to import them from a CD, DVD, camera, or flash drive. How do I import from my hard drive? Thanks in advance for any help.

First, do you have Roxio Creator 2009 or Easy Media Creator 9? There has been great confusion with the names of the two suites.

If you do have Roxio Creator 2009, you should be using VideoWave to do your slide show. Since the main page doesn't have the program names, it is even more confusing. Click on Edit Video - Enhanced. VideoWave will open.

Then, click on File/New Production, and pick either 4:3 or 16:9, depending on what photos you will be using.

Now, click on View, then click on Media Selector. Once Media Selector opens, click on View again, and select Dock Media Selector. You only have to do this one time, and Media Selector will be docked each time that you open VideoWave.

Now, on the docked Media Selector, click on dropdown arrow, and browse to the folder where you have the photos. You can then select 1 or all of them and drag them down to the first open frame in Production Editor. It is best to have the Production Editor in Storyline mode to do this.

I have Easy Media Creator 9. Can I create slideshows with this software? If so, how do I do that? Thanks for your help so much.

Import function is to transfer images/video from a Removable source to the hard drive.

Use Videowave to create your slideshow. All you do is click the 'Add images/video' button.

I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 9. So, I don't think I have videowave. Can I create slideshows with my version? thanks.

If you have the full, retail version of Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 and it installed properly then you have Videowave.

Yes, you do it the same way, except to get to VideoWave, click on your desktop icon, then click on Applications, and VideoWave will be in the list on the screen that pops up.

You then do what I listed in my last post, for opening Media Selector, etc.

The only application that pops us is MyDVD. Does that mean that I don't have Videowave?

When I click on MyDVD, a list of choices appears on the lefthand side of the screen. Add slideshow pops up and then immediately disappears. Why do you suppose this happens. Does this mean that I do not have this option on my version?

You have an OEM version of the software that came with your computer or a DVD drive. Those versions are stripped down versions of the software and are limited to what they can do.

If you are going to start a business, then you need to get a full version of the software. I would suggest getting a copy of the new Roxio Media Creator software that came out about a month ago.
