No Option For Dvd/cd Drive In Drag-2-disc, Disccopier, Mydvd

Question

A couple of weeks ago EMC 9 started giving me issues when I attempted to import photos or video from either of my digital cameras - which have been successfully used for over one year. I did a clean uninstall and install following the directions in this forum, and then updated Media 11 (again on the advice in this forum). Somehow the proble was resolved, and I was able to import from both devices.

Now, when I attempt to burn anything to DVD or CD I'm running into issues, either Drag 2 Disc won't finalize to work on another computer without roxio, or there are no options within the drop down boxes in DiscCopier or MyDVD to burn to disk - only Disc Image (on PC) is available with save (no Burn)

I worked with Dell support for over 3 hours, did another complete uninstall/install of EMC 9, updated firmware on DVD/CD drive, and still problem exists. They (Dell) did some troubleshooting and diagnostics on drive and everything appears fine. Dell is sending me a new CD/DVD drive, but I'm not sure that is going to fix the problem.

One of the test that Dell did was to copy my ISO file from harddrive to DVD disk. That worked, but Drag 2 Disc would not finalize it with the option to work on other computers. I took the DVD out of this computer and was able to load it to my other computer (with Roxio EMC 9 on it) and it could read the disk and finalize it. Which is why I'm thinking there's something 'broken' within the EMC suite of products.

Sorry for the lengthy note, but I wanted to provide you with as much background as possible.

Working on Dell Latitude D820, Windows XP

It is not necessary to close a disc in D2D, it will read on any PC with XP or Vista right out of the drive!

D2D in V9 was a bit flaky and was the last version ever offered. It is gone in EMC10 and Creator 2009 as well.

I have a posting about D2D in the V9 Tips & Tricks.

The inability to close the disk with D2D is just one of the issues. The main problem is the option to select burning to DVD using any EMC9 product is no longer available - the one and only option offered in drop down boxes is to save (not burn) to hard drive.
