Burning Images To Dvd

I use my dvd to burn the file(avi) to a image, then try to burn the image to the dvd. While this works sometimes other times it does not work. I have clicked the image then when it burns it say did not complete one time then the next it works. This problem just recently started happening and is frustrating. I have a dell deminsion I am not sure the exact specs but any info would be helpful

First question:

If your computer is a Dell, did the EMC 10 program come on the computer from Dell ? Or do you have a Retail version of EMC 10 that you bought and installed ?

 

Second Question:

What specific program in EMC 10 are you using to do the "burning" process ? (either an OEM ver. or Retail ver. of the program)
