Media Import And Mydvd - Retaining Scenes?

Jen P

Question

I imported two DV tapes using Media Import. It created scenes, but I was just importing and had not started my MyDVD project. Now when I try to add the movie to MyDVD, it doesn't remember the scenes. Why will MyDVD not recognize the scenes Media Import created? I tried to use Capture/Import and select all the scenes in Media Import, then clicked Done, but nothing happens. I hope I am explaining this correctly. Can anyone help? I don't want to have to do scene detection again within MyDVD.

You should do your project (editing, scenes, transitions, etc) all within Videowave and save your project as a Videowave project file; it will have the extension dmsm. Then launch myDVD and add the dmsm file using Add Movie. You will not have to do any scene detection again. myDVD is the program for authoring: creating menus and burning.

I don't know how long the videos are that you captured. Hopefully you captured via Firewire to avi format since that will make editing easier and faster. I also find that capturing to 10-15 clips and only working with thos is a lot easier then trying to work with a long video clip.

Thanks, Guru, but I am still not sure how to get VideoWave (or MyDVD) to recognize that I have scenes ID'd during capture. (I did capture as AVI).

Scenes are only usable to VideoWave.

Their purpose is to allow you to import just the area between scenes rather then the entire video clip.

Then you save the VW Production (dmsm) and open MyDVD. You can then add the VW Production file.
