You don't need ANY software to get the files off the camcorder. I believe that both models use memory cards to store the video. When you connect these camcorder via the USB cable, Windows XP or Vista will recognize the camcorder as an external memory card reader and should show up in My Computer as another driver letter.

 

All you need to do is open My Computer , navigate to the files and copy them using Windows Explorer to your internal hard drive (My Docs / Videos or something like that).

 

Yes, Videowave and MyDVd can use the files just file. When you add them to a project, they will first ask to convert them to editable format. Click OK and choose a place to save this file. The original is not edited and you will NOT lose any resolution. The editable file will still be hidef.
